Luxury Travel Planning with Flair Travel

Planning an extraordinary trip often begins with a few good questions. Whether you're considering a luxury cruise, a customized European vacation, an all-inclusive resort or an exceptional hotel, Flair Travel brings firsthand knowledge, trusted relationships and personal guidance to the planning process.

Here are answers to some of the questions we hear most often.

Booking travel online gives you plenty of choices, but it doesn't always help you determine which choices are right for you. At Flair Travel, we take the time to understand how you like to travel, what matters most to you and what you want from your vacation. We then use our firsthand experience, industry knowledge and relationships with trusted travel partners to make thoughtful recommendations. Our approach includes personalized trip planning, carefully selected hotels and experiences, cruise and itinerary guidance, preferred amenities and VIP recognition when available, and coordination of tours, transfers and the many details that bring a journey together. As a boutique travel agency affiliated with 1000 Mile Travel Group and Virtuoso, we also have access to preferred hotel and cruise programs that can add meaningful value to your trip. Most importantly, you have a dedicated travel advisor who knows your journey and can provide support before, during and after you travel.

Flair Travel's core specialties include ocean, river and expedition cruising, customized European vacations, luxury hotels and resorts, and our curated All-InCollection® of all-inclusive resorts in Mexico and the Caribbean. But our expertise extends well beyond these five areas. We also plan customized journeys to Canada and Alaska, African safari vacations, Costa Rica, Southeast Asia and Japan, Australia and New Zealand, and the Galápagos Islands, including expedition travel to some of the world's most remarkable destinations. Whether you're considering a luxury cruise, a private wildlife safari, a multi-generational family vacation or a customized itinerary across several countries, we work with trusted travel partners to design experiences around your interests, preferences and travel style. Our focus isn't simply on where you want to go. It's on helping you experience the destination in a way that feels right for you.

The right cruise line depends on much more than the itinerary or the price of the cabin. Ship size, dining, service, onboard atmosphere, entertainment and the types of destinations visited can make a significant difference in your experience. Some travelers prefer the energy and variety of a larger ship, while others enjoy the quieter atmosphere of a small luxury vessel or the destination-focused experience of an expedition cruise. At Flair Travel, cruising is one of our core specialties. With more than 150 days of personal experience at sea, we understand that two ships visiting the same ports can offer very different vacations. We help you compare cruise lines, ships, suite categories and itineraries so you can choose an experience that fits the way you want to travel.

Ocean and river cruising offer two very different ways to explore the world. Ocean cruises travel between coastal destinations and can offer everything from large ships with extensive dining and entertainment to intimate luxury vessels and expedition ships designed for remote destinations. River cruises typically sail on smaller ships through the heart of a region, particularly along European waterways such as the Rhine, Danube and Rhône. The experience often focuses on historic towns, local culture, regional food and wine, and the scenery along the river. River cruising generally involves less movement than ocean cruising, and many itineraries include guided shore excursions, although inclusions vary by cruise line. Neither style is necessarily better. We help clients understand the differences and choose the one that best matches their interests, travel preferences and destination goals.

Booking a luxury hotel through Flair Travel can provide benefits and personal recognition that may not be available with a standard online reservation. Through our Virtuoso affiliation and relationships with preferred luxury hotel programs, including Rosewood Elite, Marriott STARS & Luminous, Hyatt Privé, Langham Couture and other select programs, we can offer access to additional amenities at participating properties. Depending on the hotel, program and eligible rate, benefits may include daily breakfast, hotel credits, preferred rates, room upgrade consideration, and early check-in or late check-out when available. But the value goes beyond the amenities. We help you choose the right property, location and room category for your trip. We can also communicate your preferences, special occasions and important details to our hotel contacts before you arrive. Our relationships with hotel management and sales teams can help provide an additional level of personal attention and recognition throughout your stay.

We begin with a conversation about what you want to experience, how you like to travel and what matters most to you. Some clients want to visit several destinations, while others prefer to spend more time in fewer places. We discuss your interests, preferred accommodations, pace, budget and any special experiences you have in mind. From there, we work with trusted destination specialists and travel partners to develop an itinerary that may include carefully selected hotels, private transfers, rail travel, guided experiences and time to explore independently. We present our recommendations, discuss the options and refine the itinerary together before moving forward with reservations. This same personalized approach extends to customized land journeys in destinations around the world, from Japan and Southeast Asia to Costa Rica, Africa, Australia and New Zealand.

The term "all-inclusive" covers a surprisingly wide range of resort experiences. Some properties focus on adults-only relaxation, wellness and exceptional dining. Others are designed for families, with expansive pools, activities and entertainment. Even resorts in the same destination can differ considerably in room quality, service, beach conditions, dining and what's actually included in the price. That's why Flair Travel created the All-InCollection®, our curated selection of all-inclusive resorts that we believe offer compelling experiences for different types of travelers. We consider your travel style, budget, preferred atmosphere, accommodations and priorities before recommending a resort. Our goal isn't simply to find an all-inclusive vacation. It's to help you find the right one.

Absolutely. Combining a cruise with time on land is one of the ways we help clients make more of their travels. You might spend several days exploring Rome and Tuscany before a Mediterranean cruise, add a private journey through Japan before boarding a ship, explore Alaska's national parks after a coastal voyage, or combine an expedition cruise in the Galápagos with time exploring mainland Ecuador. We can coordinate hotels, private transfers, sightseeing, rail arrangements and other travel components around your cruise itinerary. Planning these elements together also helps us consider important details such as arrival timing, connections and the right amount of time before embarkation. Rather than treating the cruise and land portions as separate vacations, we work to create one thoughtfully coordinated journey.

Even a well-planned trip can encounter unexpected changes, from flight disruptions and weather delays to hotel or transportation issues. When something happens, having a travel advisor who knows your itinerary can make a meaningful difference. Flair Travel can help you evaluate your options, communicate with travel partners and coordinate changes to arrangements we've made when assistance is needed. Our relationships with hotels, cruise lines and destination specialists can also be valuable when resolving problems. While we can't prevent every disruption or control decisions made by airlines and other suppliers, we believe our responsibility doesn't end when you leave home. You have someone familiar with your journey who can help you navigate the unexpected.

Yes. Although Flair Travel is based in the San Francisco Bay Area, we work with clients throughout the United States. Our planning process is designed to be personal and convenient, whether you live nearby or across the country. We communicate through phone calls, email and virtual consultations, making it easy to discuss your plans, review recommendations and coordinate the details of your trip. We also maintain relationships with travel partners around the world, allowing us to help clients explore destinations far beyond our home base. Where you live doesn't determine the level of personal attention you receive.

For many luxury cruises and customized international vacations, we recommend beginning the planning process approximately six to twelve months before departure. Popular river cruises, expedition sailings, limited suite categories and peak-season European travel can benefit from even earlier planning. Holiday travel and resorts with high demand may also require additional lead time to secure preferred accommodations. Planning early generally provides more choices and more flexibility, especially when a trip involves several destinations or special arrangements. That said, not every vacation requires a year of preparation. We can also assist with shorter-lead trips when availability and the scope of planning allow. If you're considering a trip, it's never too early to start the conversation.

Every journey begins with a conversation. You can contact Flair Travel through our website to tell us a little about where you'd like to go, when you're considering traveling and the type of experience you have in mind. We'll arrange an initial consultation to discuss your preferences, priorities and budget, and explain how our planning process works, including any applicable professional planning fees. Once we understand what you're looking for and agree on the next steps, we begin researching and designing recommendations tailored to your trip. Whether you have a destination in mind or are still exploring the possibilities, we're here to help you make informed decisions and create a journey worth looking forward to.
